Our viral isolates

The biorepository has 105 HIV-1 primary isolates, of which a 38% is from patients with acute or recent infection, a 48% from newly diagnosed HIV patients, a 15% from patients with chronic HIV infection and a remaining 4% from patients for whose infection there is no available information at the moment.

These HIV isolates incorporate the following associated data:

  • Donor’s country of birth
  • HIV infection route
  • Infection stage
  • Viral tropism
  • Viral sub-type
  • Information regarding mutations
  • Information regarding resistance
  • Phenotypic information
  • Date of virus isolation
  • Viral material production date
  • Time the viral isolate has been frozen, its temperature and freezing-defrosting cycles.
  • Replication kinetics
  • Viral isolate’s source sample type

Additionally, the biobank has 10 R5 HIV-1 founding clones. These clones incorporate the following associated data:

  • Donor’s country of birth
  • Donor’s gender
  • HIV infection route
  • Viral tropism
  • Virus LTR structure data
  • Plasmid used for clonation
  • Host bacteria
