Retrospective collections

For sample cession and collection management, HIV HGM BioBank has performed a detailed study of the costs arising from consultancy and management, processing, cryopreserving and sample cession. The applied fees cover only part of the cost of processing biological material and will vary depending on the purpose of the samples and/or associated clinical data. In all cases, the HIV HGM BioBank will always prepare a custom-tailored quote for each applicant’s project, so the customer is guaranteed the highest efficiency and efficacy of the employed resources and that the final price is proportionate to the cost of meeting his or her needs. Consequently, there are five kinds of fees for the services of sample cession and collection management:

  • Public research projects led by research staff belonging to the RIS Network (for samples from the HIV hub) or to HGUGM (for samples from the hospital hub).
  • Public research projects led by research staff not belonging to the RIS Network (for samples from the HIV hub) or to HGUGM (for samples from the hospital hub).
  • Clinical trials or observational studies promoted by staff belonging to the RIS Network (for samples from the HIV hub) or to HGUGM (for samples from the hospital hub).
  • Clinical trials or observational studies promoted by staff not belonging to the RIS Network (for samples from the HIV hub) or to HGUGM (for samples from the hospital hub).
  • Applicants from the world of business.

Fees have been calculated based on the cost of obtaining the total sample. The final fee is calculated according to the proportional cost of the amount of sample delivered in each aliquot.

Samples are delivered in the following amounts:

  • Total blood: 1,500 μl per aliquot.
  • Plasma: 1,500 μl per aliquot.
  • Serum: 1,500 μl per aliquot.
  • PBSC: 8 to 16 million cells per aliquot.
  • Pellet: 1 million cells per aliquot.
  • Nasal inhaling: 2,000 μl per aliquot.
  • Faeces: variable.
  • Liver tissue: variable.
